Contributing to Chesapeake Bay Water Quality
The Commission is one of approximately fifty stakeholders working with the Virginia Secretary of Natural Resources, Department of Conservation and Recreation, and Department of Environmental Quality to develop the Virginia portion of the Chesapeake Bay TMDL (or Total Maximum Daily Load of sediment, nitrogen, and phosphorous). A draft of Virginia's proposed "pollution budget" and implementation plan will be developed by the Stakeholder Advisory Group (SAG) for submittal to EPA by June 1, 2010.
The Commission is coordinating the Piedmont Regional Pilot Project (PRPP) for the Chesapeake Bay TMDL that will develop a process for informing and engaging local governments and other stakeholders in our region. Please click here for further information.

OUR PURPOSE
The Rivanna River Basin Commission is the regional organization that provides guidance for the stewardship and enhancement of the water and natural resources of the Rivanna River Basin in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The Commission has representatives from these jurisdictions and organizations.
